Who We Are
South Bend Tribune Charities, Inc. was founded in 1940 by Franklin D. Schurz, F.A. Miller, and Charles E. Crockett. The impact of that foundation has continued under both the South Bend Tribune Foundation, Inc. name and what is now called Schurz Communications Foundation, Inc.
The purpose of the Schurz Communications Foundation, Inc. is to provide assistance for capital and endowment campaigns for non-profit organizations in the communities served by the local operations owned by Schurz Communications, Inc. The majority of our efforts will focus on the areas of education, the arts, and human services.
